A little more interesting.

Life in our little corner of the world just got a bit more interesting. Today, the Little Prince pulled himself up to sitting from laying on his back. He also seems to have the fundamentals of crawling down as well - he just needs to get the hang of the fact that he needs to push off with his hands and feet before he really gets moving!

Goodness, it's been five months (and more!) already. Where did the time go? Where did my sleepy little newborn go? Who is this giant fifteen pound monstrosity here today?

At least he's cute. ^_~

We're working on a routine. Around 10, LP and I lay down for a morning nap. Left to his own devices, this is usually a two hour adventure. However, he's been woken up the last few days, so he awakens crying and can't go back to sleep. Poor guy. Anyhow. After that's done, and diaper changes and his medicine and such, we go downstairs and clean the kitchen. Do some dishes, clean the counters, sweep the floor. LP will either ride in the Peanut Shell or he'll sit in his chair and play with his toys - it depends on what I'm doing (I don't want to dump the baby in the sink wearing him while I'm doing dishes!). Then we have some sweet potatoes, I make a small lunch for myself, and then we come back upstairs. We lay down for afternoon nap then. Sometimes it's an hour, sometimes it's two, sometimes it's half of one. After that, we spend some time on the tummy, learning to crawl, rolling, and playing with toys. Next stop is the swing (so mommy can have some pee-in-peace time), and then we stop downstairs to have some more potatoes before we go and get daddy from work. Today, there was a load of diaper laundry in the mix as well. I know I don't get much done, but it's getting to be a little more every day. I can handle that.

Routine

Starting the new year means starting things all over again, at least it does to me. Along this vein, I'd like to start putting together a routine, both for me and for the Little Prince. It does us no real good to sit in the bedroom and look at each other all day, and it makes the bedroom impossible to clean. However, I'm not sure what I should actually *do.* I can't do laundry, as I can't leave LP unattended, even in a playpen, for even a minute with the cats around. I can't bring him with me, as even in the sling the unfortunate side effect is that of dumping the baby in the washer, and that's no good. I think I will spend some time thinking on this, and perhaps get back into my FlyLady routines as well. That way I can get (and keep) the house clean, and work on what else might need to be done as I go.

I wish I had something more fun and entertaining to start this blog off with a bang, but sadly, I'm not to that point yet. Soon, though!

Our not-so-mainstream life

Welcome to Faerielights.

Might and Magic are the specialty of the house. I have learned that as a family, we are mighty. And whenever there are children involved, there is bound to be magic.

Our cast of characters (and believe me, we're all characters here!) is fairly small so far. In our home we have:

Care: Queen Mama to her Little Prince and Cast Iron Bitch.

Skeeve: Champion Daddy and Gamer Extraordinaire

Little Prince (LP): The most darling little bundle of joy Care and Skeeve could ever hope for.

Omero: Uncle Fantastico and another Gamer Extraordinaire. Omero is also the ingestor of all things strange - including tuna fish and wasabi sandwiches.

This is our tale of life, in a household that is well off the beaten path, and trying to find their way in tight times - joyfully, sane-ly, and most of all, together.
